Wernicke's Area
- Located in posterior end of the superior temporal gyrus
- Speech sound comprehension

Broca's Area
- Located anterior to the primary motor area on the left frontal lobe
- Speech sound sequencing
- Has more to do with speech than language

Arcuate Fasciculus
- Connects Wernicke's Area to Broca's Area
- Links speech sound recognition to production
- imporant for ability to repeat speech

Primary Motor Cortex
- Located in both hemispheres in the precentral gyrus of the frontal lobe right before the central sulcus
- controls basic motor actions
- holds the homunculus

Homunculus
"Little man"
A neurological map of the body
Primary Sensory Cortex
- Located in the post-central gyrus of both parietal lobes
- recognizes basic somatic (touch) sensations
- holds the sensory homunculus
Angular and Supramarginal Gyri
- parietal association areas
- important for reading and writing, as well as verbal language
