Salts
Chemical substances made of positively charged ions called cations and negatively charged ions called anions. They may be soluble or insoluble in water.
Soluble Salts Preparation
Prepared in solution, then evaporated to remove water, leading to the formation of salt crystals.
Insoluble Salts Preparation
Prepared by precipitation, followed by filtration, washing with distilled water, and drying.
Titration
A process where a known volume of alkali/carbonate solution is transferred to a conical flask, and acid is added until an indicator changes color, indicating the endpoint has been reached.
Crystallisation
A process where a hot concentrated solution is allowed to stand until the remaining solvent evaporates slowly, forming crystals.
Precipitation
A method suitable for producing insoluble salts by mixing solutions of two soluble salts to form an insoluble salt.
Acid Rain
Rain containing weak solutions of nitric and sulfuric acids, formed when acidic gases mix with droplets in the atmosphere.
Neutralisation
Reaction between an acid and a base to reduce acidity, often used to treat excess stomach acid or acidic soils.
