Universal Solvent
A substance that dissolves most chemicals, such as water.
Impurities in Water
Substances that negatively affect water quality, including dissolved, nonionic, and gaseous impurities.
Dissolved impurities
Substances such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, and other ions that can be present in water.
Turbidity
Cloudiness or haziness in water caused by suspended particles.
Flotation
A process where suspended particles are removed by allowing them to float to the surface.
Coagulation
The process of destabilizing the charge on colloids and suspended solids to form larger aggregates.
Flocculation
The gentle agitation process that helps small flocks coalesce into larger particles.
Disinfection
The process of reducing the number of pathogens in water to acceptable levels using chemical or physical means.
Ion Exchange
A water treatment process that involves exchanging ions between water and resin to remove impurities.
Demineralization
The process of removing dissolved minerals, salts, or acids from water.
Boiler Feed Water Treatment
Processes designed to ensure the quality of water supplied to a boiler.
Reverse Osmosis (RO)
A filtration process that removes dissolved solids from water using a semipermeable membrane.
Corrosion Inhibitors
Chemicals used to prevent corrosion in water systems.
Foaming Agents
Substances that cause the formation of foam in water systems, often leading to operational issues.
Biocides
Chemical substances that deter or kill harmful microorganisms in water.
Scaling
The accumulation of mineral deposits on surfaces that can obstruct flow or heat transfer.
