• 他们周末才送货。 Tāmen zhōumò cái sònghuò. (They will not deliver goods until the weekend.)

一 yī + measure word + 一 yī + measure word in a sentence to express "one by one"

• 他一袋一袋买面包。 Tā yīdài yīdài mǎi miànbāo. (He buys bread bag by bag.)

• This structure also applies to other measure words to emphasize that it's one measure of an object at a time. For example:

  • 她一件一件挑选衣服。 Tā yījiàn yījiàn tiāoxuǎn yīfu. (She selects the clothes piece by piece.)

subject + 就 jiù + predicate in a sentence to express "only"

• 我就买了三个橙子。 Wǒ jiù mǎile sāngè chéngzi. (I only bought three oranges.)

• 这种面包就促销了三天。 Zhè zhǒng miànnāo jiù cùxiāo le sāntiān. (This type of bread is on promotion for only three days.)

event + 之前 zhīqián /之后 zhīhòu, … to express "before" or "after"

• 去参加宴会之前，他买了燕尾服。Qù cānjiā yànhuì zhīqián, tā mǎile yànwěifú. (Before attending the banquet, he bought a tuxedo.)

• 这对手套打折之前是三十元。 Zhè duì shǒutào dǎzhé zhīqián shì sānshíyuán. (This pair of gloves were thirty dollars before the discount.)
