What type of engine does your aircraft have?
CHECK POH AND ADD FOR 152
What type of fuel is required
100LL aviation fuel if available or 100 grade aviation fuel
What is the total useable/ unusable fuel
Total usable is 24.5 USG, unusable is 1.5 USG total capacity is 26 USG, split into 2 tanks
If the fuel vent became blocked what could happen
You could have fuel starvation occurring causing the engine to stop
What is the minimum and maximum oil capacity
Minimum is 4 quarts with a max of 6
Does the aircraft have a fuel pump
No it does not the fuel is gravity fed
Describe/draw fuel system fo the aircraft
Use POH
What type of fluid does the nose oleo require and the brakes
Nose oleo requires MIL-5606 hydraulic fluid and the brakes use DOT-4
What is the recommended tire pressure for the mains and nose wheels
21 PSI for the mains and 30 PSI for the nose wheel
What is the electrical system voltage
28 volts
What is the voltage of the battery
24 volt battery
How many amps does the alternator generate
Belt driven generating 60 amps
How does the ammeter work
Indicates if the battery is charging (right indication) fully charged (neutral indication) or battery overload/alternator failure (left indication)
What does the red voltage light indicate
Over or undercharging, if undercharging may be a annunciation
How does total electrical failure affect the mags
Will not be affected
What would you do if the ammeter has right deflection and the voltage light is on
I would land ASAP knowing if the voltage sensor is malfunctioning i would turn the alternator off as well as nonessential electrical equipment
What would you do if the ammeter had left deflection and the voltage light was on
I would land ASAP and after turning the master off and then back on if it is still failing i would shut off all non essential avionics to save battery power for flaps
What type of flaps does your aircraft have
CHECK POH
What type of ailerons does your aircraft have
CHECK POH
Does your aircraft use an elevator, stabilator or anti servo tab?
Elevator with trim tab yes, all others no
Does the trim tab move in the same direction as the elevator, stabilator or anti-servo tab
Opposite for all but the anti servo tab
Name the pitot static instruments
VSI< altimeter, and airspeed indicator
Which pitotstatic instruments use the pitot tube and static port
Airspeed indicator used the pitot tube and all 3 use the static port
What occurs with a pitot tube blockage? Static port blockage?
Pitot tube:
Airspeed indicator is affected
Static port
All 3 affected, fixed by using alternate static source of breaking the glass on the VSI
Name the gyro instruments and explain how they are powered
attitude indicator is vacuum driven as is the heading indicator
How to determine if gyro instruments have reliable info
Suction gauge is green, no flags, instrument check on taxi and attitude indicator giving proper info within 5 mins of startup
Name the major sources of error in the heading indicator
Bearing friction and earths rotation
How often must you reset the headlining indicator and when can you set it
It must be reset every 15 minutes and can only be set in straight and level or stabilized climbs/descents
How does the inclinometer work
It works on the principle of gravity
Does the turn coordinator indicate the amount of bank
No it indicates the rate of turn and roll
How to lean the mixture for best cruiser and best power
Use max range/endurance of follow POH guidelines
What is the danger of running the engine to lean
May cause overheating/detonation
Whats happening if oil pressure drops and temps rise and what can you expect
Indicates engine problems and a possible engine failure
Quote te following speeds from memory
Vx: 55
Vy: 67
Vs: POH
Vso: POH
VA
Weight 1: 104
Weight 2: 98
Weight 3: 93
Vno:
Vne:
Best glide: 60
Define Va and explain why it is important
It is maneuvering speed and is the max speed at which the airplane is not being overstressed at full deflection
What happens to the Va with an increase in weight and why
Va increases with a increase in weight because with more weight there aircraft will stall before obtaining structural damage with the stall itself preventing any damage from occurring
What is the definition and significance of Vno
It’s the max structural cruise speed where operations are only permitted with caution and in smooth air
Define Vfe
Vfe is the max speed permitted with flaps extended
How does weight affect stall speed
Increasing the weight also increase the stall speed, as an aircraft with more weight requiring a higher AoA to produce the same amount of lift meaning that aircraft will stall at a higher airspeed
How does bank affect stall speed
The greater the bank angle the higher the stall speed
In a climbing turn which wing will stall first
The higher wing will stall first
In a descending turn which wing will stall first
The lower wing will stall first
Why do we not use ailerons for wing drop during a stall
If we have a stall the ailerons become ineffective and trying to pick up a stalled wing with aileron will make the stall worse
What is the max crosswind component and what does it mean
It means the max cross wind the aircraft was tested to and it s 12 kts
What is the significance of the speed providing the best lift to drag ratio
It equals your best glide speed allowing you to travel the longest distance per unit of altitude lost
Whats the difference between a forward side and a side slip
A forward side slip is used t lose altitude without reducing airspeed, in a forward side the longitudinal axis is parallel with the runway
In a side slip does the ASI over or under read
It depends on which side the static port is on, can be dangerous so side slip with extra speed to not stall
Why do we retract the flaps during a short field landing on the ground roll
We are changing the wing camber to produce less lift and add more weight to the wheels to make the brakes more effective
According to the POH at which altitude must you recover from a spin
To do it where you can recover by 4000 feet, and the flight test guide says 2000 or above
How do you recover from a spin
Neutralize ailerons, power idle, opposite rudder, nose down, ease out of dive
Can you spin the aircraft if it is in the normal category
No you cannot
What is the danger of having flaps down in a spin
They induce flatter spins and during recovery Vfe speed will be exceeded by a wide margin
What would you do if you inadvertently flew into icing
Turn back or change altitude an set up throttle for use carb heat with max power
What to do if you have a full comms failure in flight
Squawk 7600, try to contact tower on cell if in zone, leave zone by shortest route possible
What is the significance of the yellow arc
It shows you the region where maneuvers must be done with caution only in smooth air
During run up the oil pressure gauge is inoperative can you continue
No, MOOFACTA
