“Why finance?”
Originally stuck between finance and accounting
I’m interested in growth, finance is forward looking and accounting is looking at the past
I want to help others in the long term and in order to help others i also need to be forward looking and know capital, making investment decisions, raising funds
“Tell me about yourself.”
Finance and econ major
With an interest in being in corporate finance or being a financial analyst or advisor in the short term
Long term- researching and affecting policies regarding income and growth disparity
My interest is in how different groups of people in different regions are affected by monetary policies
In BU- stugov, dea’s host, uea
Outside- tutor
“Why did you rush Delta Sigma Pi?”
Interested in the professionalism and the community
professionally , this frat aligned the most with my interests- QST and econ
Looking for opportunities to learn and grow from others that share similar goals and values
And during rush events, the conversations and warmth from other brothers made me want to continue rushing
“What makes you a strong candidate?”
Professionally, I have strong analytical skills that I’ve picked up from my mentorships and external programs like WSB
WSB also shows strong work ethic and desire to grow-> seeking more
I also have leadership experience from being a part of student government and deans host
Personally I am reliable, collaborative, and am good at communicating
“Tell me about a time you demonstrated leadership.”
I volunteered back at my elementary school the summer I graduated, assisting with homework and teaching the students lion dancing
I had done it the year before
Leadership is guiding, teaching, and taking responsibility for others’ growth; helping em succeed
I had barely any experience and found myself navigating being a friend and a mentor to peers and learning how to better communicate and express thoughts in a more clear and better understood way
I spent 8 years in that position, leading and mentoring students and it was invaluable to me
“Tell me about a time you worked in a team.”
Most recently I worked in a team for 131
I loveed my team
I focused more on value creation and capture and stakeholders which fits in with my interests in finance
“What are your career goals?”
Short term-> financial analyst/ advisor or corporate finance
Long term-> research, implementation, or policy advising in regards to monetary policy and how it affects different groups of people and regions
“What does professionalism mean to you?”
reliable, respectful, and accountable in how you present yourself and interact with others
Following through, communicating and being open to feedback and growth
“What organizations are you involved in?”
Stugov, deans host, uea, hack, quantum
“What are your strengths and weaknesses?”
Strengths- work ethic and ability to juggle multiple commitments- 22 cr, work, club, wsb
Weakness- being overly critical of myself and my work, very high standards, and sometimes that makes me hesitate to share ideas or put myself forward unless I feel my work is perfect. Fix- reaching out more for feedback and taking initiative like rushing dsp
I want to grow professionally and personally
“Tell me about a challenge you faced.”
Wsb- i understood it was going to be a big commitment but even with mental preparation it was a lot
Learning financial concepts, building valuations, and working on group projects, while also earning 3 certifications
Coming out of it gave me better time management and taught me how to perform consistently well during demanding situations
“How do you handle conflict?”
I handle conflict by talking and working out what problems came up
Addressing what i did and what others did
If necessary ask a third party to intervene as a mediator
This has never happened but if a conflict gets too big- walk away to cool down; for my safety and theirs and so i dont say or do things that I might regret and follow up with an email hoping to readdress the conflict at a later time
“How would your friends describe you?”
Reliable, hard working, and hungry-> both for food and learning
I’m always there for my friends whether they need tutoring help or just a person to talk to
“What do you like to do outside academics?”
art , photography, woodworking
“What does brotherhood mean to you?”
community that supports each other’s growth both professionally and personally
Genuine relationships and accountability for myself and the growth of others
