What is Radiography?
Radiography is the science that uses various forms of radiant energies for diagnosis, treatment, and management of disease.
Who discovered X-rays and when?
X-rays were discovered by Professor Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen on November 8, 1896.
What is Mammography?
Mammography is the X-ray examination of the breast tissues using low-penetrating X-rays of 25-45 kVp.
What does Computed Tomography (CT) utilize?
CT uses a narrow beam of X-rays quickly rotated around the body to generate cross-sectional images.
What is Brachytherapy?
Brachytherapy is the treatment of a tumor where the source of radiation is kept close to the tumor.
What is the principle of Teletherapy?
Teletherapy is the treatment of a tumor where the source of radiation is distant from the tumor.
What role does Nuclear Medicine play?
Nuclear medicine involves the use of radionuclide radiopharmaceuticals for diagnosis or treatment.
What is Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)?
MRI uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to generate images of parts of the body that can't be seen well with X-rays.
How does Ultrasound imaging work?
Ultrasound imaging uses sound frequencies greater than 20kHz to produce images of body organs.
What is the ALARA principle?
The ALARA principle states that all doses of radiation must be kept as low as reasonably achievable.
What are the two types of radiation effects?
Deterministic effects (e.g., cataract, sterility) and non-deterministic effects (e.g., cancer induction, genetic mutation).
What are the responsibilities of a Radiographer?
Responsibilities include ensuring safe radiation use, pursuing diagnosis through imagery modalities, and ensuring patient safety.
What is the maximum permissible dose for a radiation worker?
The maximum permissible dose for a radiation worker is 20mSv.
What does the international symbol for radiation look like?
It is a trefoil around a small central circle representing radiation from an atom.
What is the duty of the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN)?
The RRBN is responsible for licensing qualified Radiographers and training institutions in Nigeria.
