First Hop Redundancy

configured to enable redundancy in a network so if one switch is down, the second should know that switch 1 is down so let me take over.

Some of the protocols we use:

-If we are using Cicso devices, we use HSRP protocol.

-VRRP- we use a lot. if we are using OSPF or a mix environment

-GLBP- advanced of HSRP.

-ESRP - have their own redundancy protocol

VTP

-you can configure vlan on the core switch then it will prorate to all of the subsequent switches and access switches. unless we use a protocol called allow vlan…It is useful for

-for example, if you configure vlan 1, it will propagate to all of the switches.

Does it have anything to do with Br and bdr ( double check)

yes. those are the configuration. if someone say give an example of first hop redundancy protocols, the list is on the document. These are for the vlans while the other is for the routing??

HSRP

it has many states to show the status re one will the the active and core 2 will be the stand. if one fails. (diagram section)
