Basic quantities used in physics which are independent and can be measured, such as length, mass, time, etc.
SI unit
International System of Units; a standardized system for measuring physical quantities.
Derived physical quantity
Quantities that are derived from the fundamental quantities, such as area, volume, and speed.
Scientific method
A systematic process for conducting scientific research and experimentation.
Accuracy
The degree to which a measured value reflects the true value.
Precision
The consistency of repeated measurements, regardless of their accuracy.
Diatomic molecule
Molecules composed of two atoms, which may be of the same or different elements.
Inorganic compound
Compound that typically lacks carbon-hydrogen bonds and is derived from mineral sources.
Neutralization reaction
A chemical reaction in which an acid and a base react to form water and a salt.
Skeletal muscles
Muscles that are under voluntary control and are responsible for movement of the bones.
Homeostasis
The ability of an organism to maintain stable internal conditions despite external changes.
Corrosive acid
An acid that can damage living tissues or materials upon contact.
Respiratory system
The system responsible for the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the body.
Gamete
A reproductive cell (sperm or egg) that fuses during fertilization to form a zygote.
Zygote
The cell formed by the fusion of two gametes; the first stage of development of an organism.
