Due to high surface area:volume ratio, much less of a material made of nanoparticles is needed, for the same effect as bigger particles
6
New cards
Why are nanoparticles useful in nanomedicine
So small and tiny, easily deliver drugs inside of our cells
7
New cards
Why are nanoparticles useful in electricity
Some have delocalied electrons and can conduct electricity and be used in tiny computer chips
8
New cards
Why are nanoparticles useful in surgical masks
Silver particles have good antibacterial properties, infuse them in surgical masks and reduce chance of infection
9
New cards
Why is nanoparticles being new a risk
We don't have any info on the harm they could cause and the effects they have on our body Need to be tested thoroughly before being sure
10
New cards
Why is using nanoparticles in suncream a risk
They do have better skin coverage and are good at protecting us from harmful UV rays HOWEVER We don't know if they're getting into our body or not and possibly damaging our cells
11
New cards
Why is getting rid of nanoparticles a risk
Throwing them into the sea we have no clue or evidence on what happens once they get into the sea, they could be damaging environments
