Alienated Stalin who called it “dollar imperialism” and so he banned USSR states from partaking - offering Cominform as an alternative

Stalin blockaded west Berlin to try and starve them into submission. The west responded by flying in supplies. 275,000 flights with 1.5 million tonnes of supplies.
