10. Measure patient's height and weight

11. Position the patient sitting upright

12. Enter info into database

13. Place nose clip

14. Press start

15. Review recording

16. Repeat the test twice

17. Remove nose clip

18. Disinfect spirometer

19. Hand hygiene

20. Document the procedure

- Measures amount of exhaled air

1. Connect mouthpiece to flow meter

2. Explain procedure

3. Start test

4. Repeat procedure twice

5. Read results - record number by red marker

6. Praise the patient
