Identify how force may act on an object.
By pulling, pushing or twisting.
State how does an unbalanced force affect an object.
It can affect an objects force or shape.
How may force be usually measured?
By measuring the effect of the force on a spring.
Define units used for force.
Newtons.
List 7 types of forces.
Gravity
Normal
Lift
Buoyancy
Tension
Friction
Thrust
Define gravity.
The force of attraction between two objects of mass.
Compare mass and weight’s differences.
Mass is the amount of matter in an object, it is the same anywhere, but weight changes depending on the gravity.
State the formula for weight.
W = M * G (weight = mass times gravity)
State the units for weight vs mass.
Weight uses newtons and mass uses kilograms.
Draw a diagram to show how gravity affects objects on the surface of the earth

Define friction whilst using the word “motion”.
Friction apposes motion.
List 5 cases of friction being useful
Standing
Turning in a car
Grabbing objects
Lighting a match
Opening a jar
List 5 cases of friction not being useful
Carpet burns
Cause brakes to wear out
Swimming is slower
Slowing vehicles
Makes fast objects hot like a rocket
List three ways to decrease friction
Streamlining, smooth surfaces, reduced surface areas, lubricants.
List three ways to increase friction
Rough/sticky surfaces, large surface area, moving objects quickly.
State what a machine does.
Changes the direction or magnitude of a force.
State how a machine may manipulate energy.
By transforming it from one form to another.
