Legislative Branch
The branch of government responsible for making laws, comprised of the U.S. Congress which includes 100 Senators and 435 Representatives.
Executive Branch
The branch of government responsible for enforcing laws, led by the President and Vice President, along with their Cabinet of advisors.
Judicial Branch
The branch of government that interprets the laws and includes all courts, with the U.S. Supreme Court as the highest authority.
Checks and Balances
A system that ensures no one branch of government becomes too powerful by allowing each branch to limit the powers of the others.
U.S. Congress
The legislative body of the United States government, which consists of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Supreme Court
The highest court in the United States, responsible for settling disputes, hearing appeals, and determining the constitutionality of laws.
Cabinet
A group of appointed advisors to the President, each responsible for a specific area of government policy and decision-making.
Founding Fathers
The group of leaders who established the United States and laid down the foundational principles of its government.

The section of the U.S. Constitution that outlines the structure and powers of the legislative branch.
Article 2 of the Constitution
The section of the U.S. Constitution that defines the role and powers of the executive branch.
Article 3 of the Constitution
The section of the U.S. Constitution that details the judicial branch and the powers of the courts.
