Water vapor

Water in its gaseous form.

Steam

Water vapor above the air’s temperature, formed when water boils.

Liquid water

Water in its liquid form, formed when water vapor cools.

Water cycle

Continuous movement of water on Earth driven by the sun's energy.

Evaporation

Process of changing liquid water into water vapor, the first stage of the water cycle.

Condensation

Cooling of water vapor at higher altitudes, turning it back into a liquid, the second stage of the water cycle.

Cloud formation

Water and particles in the atmosphere coming together to form clouds.

Precipitation

Water falling from clouds as rain, snow, sleet, or hail, the third stage of the water cycle.

Runoff

Water flowing back into larger bodies of water due to gravity.

Groundwater

Water seeping into the ground, forming aquifers or re-entering bodies of water later.
