What is a positive feedback loop?
A mechanism that amplifies the initial stimulus, moving the system further away from the set point. It often initiates a process that must be completed quickly.
What is a negative feedback loop?
A mechanism that counteracts the initial stimulus, bringing the system back towards its set point or ideal physiological range.
In a feedback loop, what is a stimulus?
A detectable change in the internal or external environment that triggers a response.
In a feedback loop, what are receptors?
Sensory structures that detect changes (stimuli) in the environment and send information to the control center.
