Origin: Anterior superior iliac spine

Insertion: Proximal end of tibia

Action: hip flexion, hip abduction, hip external rotation and knee flexion

Rectus Femoris Muscle

Origin: anterior inferior iliac spine

Insertion: Quadriceps femoris tendon

Insertion: Posterior surface of proximal femur

Gracilis muscle

Origin: pubic bone

Insertion: Medial surface of proximal shaft of tibia

Tensor Fasciae latae muscle

Origin: Anterior superior iliac spine and anterior outer lip iliac crest

Insertion: tubercle of iliotibial tract on he tibia

Iliotibial tract (band)

Origin: anterolateral portion of the iliac crest

Insertion: attaches to the tubercle of iliotibial tract

function: help stabilize the extended knee joint

Femoral Nerve

Origin: lumbar plexus(l2-l4)

interstation: anterior compartment of the thigh

Obturator Nerve

Origin: Lumbar plexus( l2-l4)

Insertion: medial compartment of the thigh

Formal Artery

Origin: continuation of external iliac artery

Insertion: adductor canal in the thigh

Deep femoral artery

Origin: descends in medial direction

Insertion: descends in a medial direction

Medial Circumflex femoral artery

Origin: Deep femoral artery

Insertion: Posteriorly around the femoral neck

Lateral circumflex femoral Artery

Origin: deep femoral artery

Insertions: anterior to the proximal femur

Femoral Vien

Origin: Continuation of the popliteal vein

Insertion: ascends posterolateral to the femoral artery and continues as the external iliac vein

Great Saphenous Vein

Origin: Union of the dorsal venous arch of the foot and the dorsal veins of great toe

insertion: drain into the femoral vein
