1st Amendment

Freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and petition.

2nd Amendment

The right to bear arms

3rd Amendment

Prohibits the quartering of troops in private homes without the owner's consent.

4th Amendment

Protects against unreasonable searches and seizures, ensuring a right to privacy.

5th Amendment

Protects against self-incrimination (pleading the 5th) and guarantees due process (fair trial); prohibits being on trial for the same crime twice; eminent domain

6th Amendment

Guarantees the right to a fair and speedy trial, an impartial jury, and the right to counsel; the right to be put on trial in the state where the crime occured; the right to know witnesses and charges

7th Amendment

Guarantees the right to a jury trial in civil cases.

8th Amendment

Protects against cruel and unusual punishment and unfair bail

9th Amendment

the rights of citizens will be protected whether these rights are listed or not

10th Amendment

Powers not given to the federal government in the Constitution are reserved for the states.

11th Amendment

States cannot be sued by citizens of other states

12th Amendment

Electing President and Vice President

abolished slavery and involuntary servitude
