Church Militant

Truly all humans working out their salvation on earth; we must remain hopeful yet "militant" about working out our salvation

Church Triumphant

Those who have attained salvation and are in heaven

Church Suffering

Those who are "saved" but are in the process of purification/penance prior to entering heaven; those in purgatory

Secularism

A doctrine that rejects religion and religious considerations.

Atheism

The obstinate denial of God; remember, not all who claim to be atheis are atheist - in truest form, this would be someone who understands truth but denies it

Consumerism

The idea that we obtain our meaning from the accumulation of goods; guilty of the sin of gluttony

Libertinism

The idea that we live our lives profanely, rejecting any moral rules or restraints (Example is lust)

Gnosticism

The material world is evil, salvation attained only through secret knowledge

Arianism

Jesus was not equal to the Father, thus not truly God

Pelagianism

Denied the effects of original sin. Thus taught we can arrive at moral perfection without God

Monophysitism

Jesus only had one nature: divine; essentially denied his humanity

Donatism

Denied "ex opera operato" - taught the effectiveness of a sacrament dependent on the holiness of the priest
