Pyoderma
Skin disorder of the immune system; small red bumps painful open sore, often associated with bacterial infections due to open wounds, sometimes around surgical sites
Impetigo
Highly contagious bacterial skin infection; reddish sores often around nose and mouth, honey-colored crust, pus, mainly effects young infants and children
Rashes
Red patches of skin caused by contact dermatitis; red spots excessive itching large blisters, swelling of the affected area
Fungi
Common athletes foot or ring worm; itching or burning, red blotches on skin, swelling at the site and peeling
Tinea versicolor (sunspots)
A fungal infection that causes discolored patches; patches may be white or just lighter colored, spots don’t tan the way the rest of your body does, episodes triggered by prolonged sun exposure
Ascariasis (roundworms)
Parasites; diarrhea, fever, stomach pain, restlessness, disturbed sleep
Pinworms (round worms)
itchy butt; itching around the anus or vagina, restlessness and irritability, teeth grinding, stomach pain and nausea
Scabies (warning wear gloves and sanitize)
microscopic insects buries under the skin and nests there to lay eggs; intense itching that may be stronger at night, blisters or bumps on the skin
Giardia
Intestinal infection caused by parasites in poor sanitary areas and unsafe water; watery sometimes foul diarrhea that may alternate with soft greasy stools, fatigue stomach cramps and bloating gas nausea weight loss
Gastritis
Inflammation of lining of stomach that can lead to ulcers or internal bleeding; gnawing or burning ache in upper abdomen, nausea vomiting feeling of fullness after eating in upper abdomen
Esophagitis
Inflammation of the esophagus; heartburn, difficulty painful swallowing, chest pain behind breast bone, regurgitation of stomach contents into mouth
Dyspepsia (indigestion)
upper abdominal pain associated with eating; feeling full soon after starting to eat, discomfort after a meal, burning or bloating in upper abdomen, nausea
Pelvic inflammatory disease
bacterial infection of female reproductive organs; pain ranging from milk to severe in lower abdomen and pelvis, smelly vaginal discharge, pain and bleeding during sex, fever, painful urination
Urinary tract infection
bacterial infection in urinary system, women are at higher risk; strong urge to urinate that doesn’t go away, burning when urinating, urinating often in small amounts, strong smelling cloudy urine
Vaginitis
inflammation of vagina, can be bacterial or yeast; foul smelling discharge itching of genital area pain during sex or urination, bacterial is grayish white smelly discharge, yeast is itching discharge that resembles cottage cheese
Candida/ yeast infection
results from overgrowth of yeast anywhere in the body (thrush mouth); white curd-like discharge, itchy and very common, burning sensation during sex if it’s vaginitis
Conjunctivitis (pink eye) highly contagious
inflammation of transparent membrane that lines the eyelid and eyeball; redness itchiness discharge in one or both eyes, gritty feeling, typically viral but viral is white pus and bacterial is green yellow discharge
Cataracts (cloudy eyes)
clouding of normally clear lens; clouded blurred or dim vision increasing difficulty with vision at night sensitivity to light and glare fading or yellowing of colors
Pterygium
Raised fleshy triangular-shaped growth on eyes conjunctive; slightly raised pink growth on eye, red irritated or swollen eyes, dry itchy or burning eyes, common in older adults
Anemia
too low hemoglobin to carry enough oxygen to your body’s tissues; fatigue or weakness, cold hands and feet, pale skin and eyelids, dizziness or lightheadedness headaches
Allergies
immune system resacts to a foreign substance; itchy watery teary burning eyes sneezing and hives
diabetes
excess sugar in the blood; blurry vision excess thirst or hunger fatigue frequent urination weight loss
hypertension
high blood pressure; headache shortness of breath nosebleeds fatigue vision problems
arthritis
swelling or tenderness of one or more joints; pain stiffness swelling redness decreased range of motion
tendonitis
inflammation of thick fibrous cords that attach muscle to bone; pain with use, tenderness and mild swelling
costochondritis
inflammation of cartilage that connects rib to the breastbone or sternum; sharp aching or pressure like; worsens when taking a deep breath coughing sneezing or any chest movement
headaches
head pain; blurry vision nausea neck pain stiffness increased sensitivity to light or noise
ear infection
infection in middle area more common in children; ear pain especially when lying down, trouble sleeping and hearing, loss of balance, fever of 100 F (38 C or higher)
hearing loss
partial or total loss of hearing; muffled sounds difficulty understanding asking others to speak slowly and withdrawal from conversations
pharyngitis/tonsilitis
sore throat discomfort or scratchiness in throat; difficulty swallowing, inflammation, pain or scratchy sensation, swollen lymph nodes, white patches or pus on tonsils
strep throat
sore throat caused by bacteria; throat pain that usually comes on quickly, painful swallowing, red and swollen tonsils, tiny red spots on the back of the roof of the mouth
uperr respiratory infection
includes sinuses, nasal passages pharyngitis and larynx; runny nose, sore throat and cough. fever fatigue swollen lymph nodes
common cold
viral infection of nose and throat; runny or stuffy nose, sore throat and cough, congestion, slight body aches or a mild headache, low-grade fever
bronchitis
inflammation of lining of bronchial tubes which carry air to and from your lungs; cough production of thick mucus fatigue shortness of breath slight fever and chills chest discomfort
pneumonia
infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs; chest pain when breathing or coughing, cough which may produce phlegm, fever sweating shaking chills, fatigue
