Client-facing lawyer; qualifies via LLB (Scots Law) → DPLP → 2-year traineeship;
may seek solicitor advocate status for higher courts.
Advocate
Advocate (member of the Faculty of Advocates):
specialist advocate; access after devilling (usually post-solicitor qualification).
King's Counsel (KC) (“silk”)
Senior advocate; title also KC (formerly QC).

Notary Public (usually a qualified Scottish solicitor admitted to notarial office).

Non-lawyer roles supporting casework; CILEX route for legal executives.
