Black – represents selfishness which Danny expresses with his over-determination to become a dentist and lack of concern for so-called ‘friends’

Red and white chequered shirt

Detail of the shirt shows the effort Danny puts into looking smart and sophisticated, reflecting his desire to be a dentist.

The red is muted by the white, so it is not intimidating and instead represents Danny’s ambitions to become a dentist, contrasting with the others who do not seem to care about school or the future

Broguing pattern combined with the shininess of the patent shows the care and thought Danny puts into looking smart and sophisticated and making himself look good – reflecting his desire to be a dentist and his selfishness making him contrast with the others in the group.
