New cards

An example of a living tissue that are made up of cells.

Bone

3
New cards

A group of similar cells working together for the same function

Tissue

4
New cards

What is the human skeleton system made out of?

It is made out of bones connected together by joints.

5
New cards

The Roles a skeleton does includes…

A fertilised Egg cell.

7
New cards

What is a smooth muscle?

Found in organs such as the stomach and the intestines and more involuntarily

8
New cards

What is contraction?

Shortening of the muscles, which requires energy

9
New cards

What is the cardiac muscle?

Found in the heart and moves involuntarily

10
New cards

Why do muscle cells have a lot of mitochondria?

So that the mitochondria can release energy for the muscle cell to contract.

11
New cards

What is a ligament?

Holds two or more bones together at a joint

12
New cards

what is a tendon?

Attaches muscle to a bone.

13
New cards

What is cartillage?

Strong,Smooth tissue that is found inside a joint.

14
New cards

What do Hinge joints allow the bones to do?

Allows to move it fowards and backwards

15
New cards

What do ball and socket joints allow for the bones to do?

Allows them to move in a circular motion

16
New cards

What do the Gliding allow for the bones to do?

Allows for them to slide past eachother.

17
New cards

Describe how muscle contraction leads to the movement of a bone.

Muscles are joined to bones by tendons. When a muscle contracts, it gets shorter and tighter. This pulls on the tendon, which pulls the bone and makes it move at a joint.

18
New cards

Muscles work in _______ Pairs

Antagonistic

19
New cards

What happens when you move your arm up or down?

When you move your arm up:

Bicep Contracts

Tricep relaxes

When you move your arm down:

Bicep relaxes

Tricep contracts

Oxygen diffusing from the lungs into the blood and carbon dioxide diffusing from the blood into the lungs.

21
New cards

What is the definition for heart rate?

The number of heart beats per minute.

22
New cards

What is respiration?

A chemical process in cells which uses sugar as a fuel to provide energy for life processes.

23
New cards

What are the Physical benefits of excerise?

Red and white blood cells

34
New cards

What is Starch?

Make up of glucose molecules, this is the main storage product in plants

35
New cards

What is chlorophyll

The green pigment in plant cells which is involved in photosynthesis.

36
New cards

What is glucose?

A simple sugar molecule which is one of the products of photosynthesis.

New cards

Why are plants green?

Because Chlorophyll is present with a green pigment which therefore leads to a plant becoming green.
