Those who did not chose good or evil; They will forever chase a banner and be stung by wasps while their blood is eaten by magots; They are given no real place in Hell because they took no stand in Life for good or evil.

Circle 1

Limbo; Virtuous Pagans; People who lived virtuous lives but before God/lacked the revelation of Christ; They live without hope of ever seeing God because human reason alone is not enough to get into heaven.

Circle 2

Lustful; They are forever blown around by winds just as they were blown around by their lust.

Circle 3

Gluttons; Their senses are overly burdened because in life they overly pleased them.

Circle 4

Avaricious and Prodigal; They produce nothing worthful from their work in life and Therfore Produce nothing worthful from pushing the weights across each side of the circle in Hell.

Circle 5

The angry and sullen; They are trapped in the slime of the styx and the sullen are stuck underneath the slime and not seen.

Circle 6

Heretics; They are burning in open tombs with the lead heretic watching all those he lead astray suffer; On Judgement Day the tombs will be eternally sealed.

Circle 7

Violence; Against Neighbors, Against Self, Against God

Circle 7 1st Ring

Violence Against Neighbors; In Boiling Blood of the river Phlegathon; The blood of those they were violent towards is drowing them

Circle 7 2nd Ring

Violence against Self; The trees have no resembalence to the bodies they destroyed. The Harpies at them eternally and when their branches are broken they bleed and then can speak.

Circle 7 3rd Ring

Violence against God; Burning Sand; Sodomites run around the Sand; Blasphemers are laid down on the sand with firey rain from God raining down on them. The Userers are croutched on the sand.

Sins of Fraud, Has 10 Bolgias.

Circle 8 Bolgia 1

Panders and Seducers; Whipped by evil demons because they constantly led others to serve their evil wills and now are led by evil.

Circle 8 Bolgia 2

Flatters; Covered in filth (human excrement)

Circle 8 Bolgia 3

Simonists; Upside down in holes with the soles of their feet on fire; They mocked their holy offices and the holy offices now mock them (the holes represent thier holy office)

Circle 8 Bolgia 4

Soothsayers; Their heads are turned backwards because of the future they saw in life and it is now forbidden to see ahead of them in Hell.

Circle 8 Bolgia 5

Grafters; Grafters are suspended in hot pitch and whenever they come above it the demons stab them and send them back; The demons are greedy to get their hands on them like they were greedy to get their hands on things.

Circle 8 Bolgia 6

Hypocrites; Wear cloaks that are beutiful and gilded but leaded on the inside so that the cloaks hid the shades identity as well as the true identity of the cloak itself.

Thieves; In a snake pit; transformations from snake to human etc.;There sin was snake like and commitited with their hands

False Counselors; They are hidden by fire in Hell; Their acts were hidden from the world and therefore they are hidden by fire in Hell

Sowers of Discord; They divide what God had put together; they were cut in half or divided in Hell and would heal to be cut again.

Circle 8 Bolgia 10

Counterfieters/ Falsifiers; includes alchemists; countefieters; impersonators; they are punished with diseases.

The treacherous; Final and worst circle of Hell

Caina

Region i of Circle 9;Treacherous against Kin; Named after Cain who was treacherous against his own blood Abel; Buried in ice up to their necks heads bent forward.

Antenora

Region ii of Circle 9;Treacherous to their country; In ice up to their necks; Named after Antenor who betrayed Trojans to Greeks.

Ptolomea

Region iii of Circle 9; Treacherous to guests; In ice to necks heads bent backwards; named after Ptolomeas who killed his father in-law during a banquet.

Judecca

Region iv of Circle 9; Named after Judas Iscariot; Traitors to lords and benefactors; completley submerged in ince cannot move or speak.

Beatrice

Dante's first love; Represents God's love and revelation; Sends Virgil to lead Dante away from his sin; Beatrice will lead Dante through Purgatory and Paradise.

Minos

The Judge of the Dead; the amount of times he circles his tail is the circle number each soul must go to. In Circle 2

Francesca de Rimini and Paolo

They had an affair with each other and were caught by Giovanni, her husband, who killed them both on the spot. In circle 2.

Charon

The boatman in the vestibule. He takes dead and condemed souls to over the river Acheron to Hell. Refuses to take Dante until Virgil says it is willed by a higher power.

Ciacco

"Pig" In circle 3. Asks if Dante recognizes him but he does not. He tells Dante he is from Florence.

Satan

Dis; The center and bottom of Hell; He holds Brutus, Cassius, and Judas in his mouths; His constan flapping wings traps him in ice more for eternity while freezing over cocytus.

Boniface

Sworn enemy of Dante; Pope during the war between blacks and whites; He was sneaky and is predicted to be put in the 8th circle of hell in Bolgia 3

Ulysses

In the 8th circle Bolgia 8 (evil council) for being tricky and using his wit to trick and kill Trojans (Trojan horse + sneaking into Troy

Servants of Hecate (queen of hell);

A sower of Discord; divided the Church and lead people astray

In circle 8 Bolgia 7 (thieves); another of Dante's enimies; know as hot headed and violent; make a rude gesture towards God and predicts the defeat of the whites

Geryon

The symbol of Fraud; his face is honest, but his body has scales and he has a pointed dangerous tail. Take Dante and Virgil to the 8th circle.

In circle 8 Bolgia 8 (false council); he gave Boniface bad advice on how to conquer his enemies

In the 8th circle of hell in Bolgia 3 (simonists); claimed Don. Of Con.; mistakes Dante for Boniface who he is waiting for that will push him more into the hole he is hanging over.

Old teacher of Dante who is in the 3rd layer of the 7th circle (violence against God) for being a sodomite
