2nd Amendment

right to bear arms

3rd Amendment

Prohibits quartering of soldiers in peacetime

Protects individuals from unlawful searches and seizures (public safety vs. individual rights)

5th Amendment

Protects individuals’ rights during an investigation + trial; right to remain silent, protection against double jeopardy, eminent domain (can’t take property w/o compensation)

6th Amendment

Right to a public and speedy trial, impartial jury

7th Amendment

Right to a jury in certain civil cases

8th Amendment

Protection against “crual & unusual punishment”

9th Amendment

Protects unenumerated rights not specifically listed in the Constitution

10th Amendment

Powers not specifically delegated to the federal government => states
