What are the elements of prose?
Character
Any person, animal, or
imaginary being that
performs actions.
Flat, Round, Static, Stereotype, Dynamic
Minor Characters are?
Protagonist
It is the central character in the story.
Antagonist
It is the opposing character from the central character.
Flat character
They reveal one or two traits throughout the story
Round character
They have various traits in the story.
Dynamic Character
Characters who develop and
change throughout the
progression of the story
Static Character
Characters who don’t change and stay the same.
Stereotype Character
Characters with common
generalized traits are repeatedly
found in stories
Characterization
It is the representation of
the traits of a character.
Direct Characterization
The author directly describes a
character's quality.
Indirect Characterization
The author shows the character as
she/he moves through the story.
Setting
It refers to the time and
environment in which the
event happened.
Plot
It is the sequence of
events.

First person
The narrator is part of the
characters in a story.

Uses the pronouns “i, me, you, we, us, our”
Third person
The narrator is telling a story
about other people. Pronouns used are “she, her, him, his, they,them”
Second person
It directly addresses the reader
(or a character who is being
spoken to). Pronouns used: You, your,
yourself, yourselves
