Common Good
The sum of personal goods exercised with justice to consider the impact of one’s actions on others; aims for universal happiness and flourishing.
Respect for the human person
Upholding the inherent dignity and well-being of every individual.
Social well-being and development
The welfare and progress of the group or society as a whole.
Peace, stability, and security of a just order
A state of harmonious, safe coexistence maintained by justice and orderly governance.
Morality
Ideal behavior (deeds or thoughts) that do not harm or belittle others and contribute to the common good.
Political
Relating to the making of government policy and governance, as distinct from administration.
Society
An organized group sharing common interests or beliefs and cooperating.
Political Society
The organized process of articulating citizens’ values into groups; includes unions, councils, assemblies, parties, NGOs, etc.
Subsidiarity
The principle that decisions should be made at the lowest capable level; central authority acts only when localities cannot resolve an issue; promotes local participation and autonomy.
Solidarity
Unity among people with shared goals and values that binds them to act for the common good.
Volunteerism
The use or involvement of voluntary labor in service to others and the community.
Autonomy
The right or condition of self-government and self-determination.
Accountability
Responsibility for one’s actions and being answerable to others.
Civil Society
A constellation of organizations and institutions that promote health, rights, and welfare outside direct government control.
Human rights defenders/organizations
Individuals or groups that defend rights and help victims secure justice.
Coalition and networks
Groups and networks formed to promote rights and coordinate advocacy.
Persons with disabilities and their representative organizations
Groups advocating equal treatment and rights for people with disabilities.
Community-based groups
Organizations supporting indigenous peoples and minorities facing discrimination.
Faith-based groups
Religious organizations promoting positive values and community welfare.
Unions
Trade groups and professional associations that advocate for members and monitor government actions.
Social movements
Organized campaigns advocating freedom and equality (e.g., peace, student, pro-democracy).
Professionals
Humanitarian workers, lawyers, doctors, and other professionals contributing to human rights and welfare.
Social Justice
Equality of rights in wealth, opportunities, and privileges within a society.
Purchasing Power of the Middle Class
The ability of middle-class workers to convert skills into income to buy goods and services.
Reduction of Rich-poor gap
Efforts to minimize income disparities between high- and low-income groups.
Improvement of the Services for the Middle and Lower classes
Quality government services that enable middle and lower classes to participate in the economy.
Gender Equality
Equal rights and opportunities for men and women.
Spirituality
Mental or emotional state focused on the promotion of good rather than material pursuits.
