working memory model
Proposed by Baddeley and Hitch, this model explains short-term memory. The central executive controls attention and directs information to either the phonological loop (for sound) or the visuospatial sketchpad (for visuals). The episodic buffer links this info to long-term memory.
Reconstructive memory
This is when we piece together memories using stored knowledge when we can't clearly remember something. It often involves schemas, which are mental frameworks that organize information.
schema theory
This theory suggests we use schemas, or mental frameworks, to help organize and recall information based on prior knowledge and experiences
theory of planned action
This model suggests that behavior is influenced by our intentions, which are shaped by attitudes, social norms, and our sense of control over the behavior.
Anchoring bias
A cognitive bias where people rely too much on the first piece of information they get, even if it's irrelevant, affecting their subsequent decisions.
Memory
Memory is the process of storing and retrieving information. It involves holding onto past experiences, knowledge, and skills, which we can use later. It works through different stages like sensory, short-term, and long-term memory.
protection from harm
Researchers must ensure that participants are not harmed physically or psychologically during or after a study. This includes avoiding stress, pain, or long-term harm and reducing potential risks.
