Platelet Inhibitor, Anit-inflammatory agent, Antipyretic, Analgesic
Action
Prevents the platelets, the part of the blood that forms clots, from sticking together, wither forming new clots or making existing ones worse. Inhibits a chemical (prostoglandin) that causes localized vasodialation, reducing inflammation and fever.
Indications
Chest Pain, non-hemorrhagic stroke, pain, fever,inflammation.
Route
Oral, chewed or swallowed
Contraindications
Ulcers, recent bleeding, asthma
Adverse Effects
Bronchospams, anaphylaxis, prolonged bleeding, GI bleed, epigastric distress, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, Reye's Syndrome - Liver and brain swelling-primarily in kids, overdose can cause ringing in the ear.
Special Considerations
Can cause fetal risk - weigh benefits to the mother against possible risk to the fetus. Chewable aspirin should be given to all patients with chest discomfort.

325mg - 4 81mg chewable baby aspirin
