What are insider groups and examples?
pg that has close links with the gov/decision makers- seek to be involved in policy making
eg. BMA- department of health, CBI- treasury, AA- department of transport and NFU
more likely to be successful
What are outsider groups?
PG that aren’t associated with the gov- lack close relationship
have to use other methods- public campaigning/media to spread awareness
What are casual/promotional groups?
campaign/promote particular cause (environment etc)
often wide range of backgrounds/open membership
ie. Green Peace/Friends of the Earth/Liberty
What are sectional groups?
represent particular section of society
membership restricted to a particular job/group
ie. BMA and CBI
What are the features of pressure groups?
exert influence from outside gov
narrow issue focus ]members united by a common cause
What are social movements?
long term campaign for improvement of society in some area- less organised than PG =, may contain many PG
eg. BLM
