They joined intercultural labor unions as well as creating black labor unions to adress issues of segregation and higher wages. Organizations such as the knights of labor were for interracial labor worker unions. They led the 1887 Louisiana sugarcane strike.

The split was due to economic decline and unequal benefits of segregation among black people. The policy of affirmative action helped benefit the middle class into integrating into professional workplace environments. By 1985 the US census said that 1 out of three black people were below the poverty line. the ratio of the black to white cent per dollar dropped to 58 cents per dollar by 1979

How did black feminist reshape Black Politics, culture and identity?

Black feminist acknowledged the intersectionality of discrimination that the Black women face in the black nationalism movement, as well as the women’s movement. They founded the National Black feminist organization in 1973 to address such unique issues black women face in both black and women spaces. Activist Margaret Wright spoke on the discrimination faced in the black community like wife bartering and unequal household chores. Alice walker contributed to the cultural movement of the multiculturalism life of a black women, by creating the color purple.
