Built in 1656-61, French secular architecture, made from brick and stone, patron is Nicholas Fouquet, French politician who rose to superintendent of France to Louis XIV, purchased the estate in 1641, when he became superintendent he commissioned Le Vau, Le Brun, and Le Notre to renovate it, east wing is dedicated to Louis XIV, ABCDCBA rhythmic arrangement, emphasis on horizontality and verticality through string courses, pediments, dental ornamentation.
