Incarnation

The process of Jesus being made flesh, becoming fully God and fully Man, which is entirely beyond full human understanding

2
New cards

List and Describe the 5 Reasons for the Incarnation

  1. To reconcile us with God through the forgiveness of sins (Christ takes upon himself all human sin to repair our broken relationship)

  2. That we might know the depth of God’s love (after the fall, Adam and Eve lost understanding of God’s unconditional love, so Jesus has come to teach it to us again)

  3. To be our model of holiness (Jesus shows us how to be holy in our everyday life and calls us to initiate Christ’s holiness, as he is perfectly holy)

  4. To make us partakers of God’s divine nature (Jesus wants us to share in his divinity because God made us in his image, and he wants us to become what he made us so that we can live in full communion with him)

  5. To destroy the power of the devil (Jesus fulfills the Protoevangelium promise, because humanity cannot defeat him by ourselves)
