the abuser displayis controlling behaviors
they seek to gain control, outburst occur
both try to reduce tension
victim is often tense and accepts the blame
What is Acute battery Phase?
tension is unbearable
sometimes victim provokes the abuser to get it over
serious harm occurs
victim may cover up injuries
the shortest and most violent
What is the honeymoon phase?
abuser feels guilt
tries to undo wrongdoings
the victim wants to believe they will change
Why do victims often stay in abusive relationships?
it may cause the abuser to respond more violently, the feelings of dependency
