Carries electrical signals from one part of the body to another.
What are the characteristics of epithelial tissues?
Polarity, Cellularity, Attachment, Avascularity, Regeneration.

Provide physical protection, control permeability, provide sensation, produce specialized secretions.
What are the types of cell junctions in epithelial tissue?
Gap junctions, Tight junctions, Desmosomes.
What do gap junctions do?
Allow rapid communication between cells.
How do tight junctions function in epithelial tissues?
Prevent passage of water and solutes between cells.
What is the difference between endocrine and exocrine glands?
Endocrine glands release hormones into the bloodstream; exocrine glands discharge secretions through ducts onto epithelial surfaces.
