Light blue V-neck jumper

Light blue – represents his tears – Brian often cries in the play and his vulnerability – Brian is manipulated and threatened by other higher status gang members

Black muddy trousers

Matching Jan, Mark and Lou – shows they are part of the gang and lower status.

Mud – shows they have been messing about in the woods – bullying Adam – hinting at their complicity in what they think is his death.

Crumpled bright white school shirt

White - shows that Brian is principled – didn’t want to take part in the cover-up.

Crumpled - symbolises that he is bullied into going along with the group – ignoring his principles so they are in effect ‘crumpled’

Dark red Velcro trainers

Red – symbolises blood – the blood he has on his hands for killing Adam. Shows the overwhelming guilt he feels for what he did to Adam, eventually going crazy as a result.

Velcro – childish, less capable than the others.
