Influence of clouds
The effect that cloud cover has on temperature, particularly in relation to insulation and radiative cooling.
Advection
The movement of air from one location to another, influencing temperature based on the source of the air.
Warm advection
The process of air being brought in from a warmer area.
Cold advection
The process of air being brought in from a colder area.
Albedo
The measure of reflectiveness of a surface; influences ground heating when snow is present.
Temperature inversion
A situation where temperature increases with height, often occurring at night when the ground cools.
Cold front
The boundary that separates cooler air from warmer air, usually marked by a sharp temperature transition.
Warm front
The boundary that leads in warmer air, transitioning conditions from cooler to warmer.
Radiational cooling
The cooling of the Earth's surface by emitting infrared radiation, especially prominent at night.
Tropopause
The layer of the atmosphere where temperature typically stops decreasing with altitude, marking the boundary of the troposphere.
