Comes from our relationship with God and other people.

Blessed are the Poor in Spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

People who are themselves, who don’t put on an act when they’re with others. Poor in spirit people admit they need God and others. We let people see our good and bad points.

Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Sad when things aren’t going well for our friends. If we aren’t sad for them we could be selfish or self-centered and not much of a friend.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Being meek, trying not to get our own way by using physical, emotional or verbal violence. It takes a lot of courage. 

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be comforted.

Being cool by sticking up for people when they’re being treated unfairly.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

By forgiving people when they do something wrong and by not holding grudges against them.

Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God.

Friendly with people all the time, no matter what.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.

Helping people out of a jam they’re in and patching things up.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

If I’m okay with myself and who I am, then I am not afraid of being persecuted for sticking up for the people and things I believe in.
