Step 1
Wrap insulation around the base and side of block then the heater should fit into 1 hole in the block
Step 2
Drop water into hole using a pipette to increase thermal contact if thermometer has air gap surrounding it
Step 3
If power of heater is unknown, turn on power supply and measure current/potential difference using P=IV
Step 4
Keep power supply on and start timer then measure block temperature every 10 mins
Step 5
Plot graph of temperature against work done by heater then calculate line gradient
Step 6
Specific Heat Capacity = Gradient/Mass of Block
Inverse of Gradient = Specific Heat Capacity of Block
