Metric Units
Standard units of measurement used in scientific contexts, including liters, milliliters, and microliters for liquid measurement.
Volumetric Instruments
Tools used to measure liquid volumes accurately, including beakers, graduated cylinders, standard pipettes, and micropipettes.
Top-loading Balance
An electronic device used for weighing, providing high sensitivity to measure masses down to one milligram.
Conversion
The process of changing a measurement from one unit to another, such as liters to milliliters.
Aspirate
To draw liquid into a pipette tip using a control button.
Zeroing
The act of calibrating a balance by setting it to zero to measure the weight of only the substance placed on it.
Micropipette
A precision instrument used for transferring small volumes of liquid, typically ranging from 0.1µl to 1000µl depending on the model.
Accuracy
The degree to which a measured value conforms to the actual (true) value.
Precision
The degree to which repeated measurements under unchanged conditions show the same results.
Weigh Boat
A shallow container used to hold a substance while weighing to prevent liquid from damaging the balance.
