DDS Title VI Policy Statement
Compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, ensuring no discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, low-income, and Limited English Proficiency (LEP).
Georgia Resident (according to Georgia Law)
A person who has a permanent home or abode in Georgia with intent to return, accepts employment or engages in trade in Georgia, or has been in the state for 30 days or more.
Vision Requirements (Georgia Driver's License)
Must demonstrate the ability to meet minimum vision requirements; 20/60 in one eye, with or without corrective lenses, and a horizontal field of vision of at least 140 degrees.
Class C License
Non-commercial license for drivers age 18 and older.
Class D License
Provisional license issued to drivers ages 16 and 17.
Class M License
License for motorcycle operators.
Class E and F License
Non-commercial license for drivers who operate commercial motor vehicles and who are exempt from commercial licensing requirements.

Applicants under age 18
Requires applicants under 18 years of age to present proof of completion of Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program (ADAP) as well as satisfy school enrollment
Class C Instructional Permit (CP)
Allows you to obtain practical driving experience under the supervision of a licensed driver.
Class D Provisional License Requirements
You must present proof of completion of the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program (ADAP).
Approved driver education course
An approved driver education course consisting of either 30 hours of classroom instruction OR completion of an equivalent online virtual course; AND 06 hours of on-the-road experience with a certified instructor OR completion of the DDS Parent Teen Driving Guide.
Conditions of a Class D Provisional License
A Class D license holder may not drive between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., during the first six months only immediate family members may ride in the vehicle, during the second six months only one passenger under 21 years.
Obtaining a Class C License Exchanging a Class D license
A Class D license holder may apply for a Class C license upon reaching the age of 18.
"Slow Poke" Law (House Bill 459)
Must move out of the passing lane to allow faster-moving traffic to proceed.
Traffic Laws
Traffic laws are necessary to prevent crashes by defining the orderly movement of vehicles, pedestrians, and other users of public highways.
Right-of-Way
Who has the lawful authority to enter a roadway, change lanes within a roadway, make a turn from a roadway, travel through an intersection, or make any other traffic related movement
"Move Over" Law
Move over to the next lane if safely possible, and if unable to move over, then slow down below the speed limit.
Turn Signals
A turn signal must be given whenever a turn is made to the right or the left.
Super Speeder
Any driver convicted of speeding 75 mph or more on a two-lane road or 85 miles per hour or more on any road in Georgia.
Driving Under the Influence
Operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, a drug, or any other substance which impairs his/her ability to safely do so.
Reckless Driving
Driving any vehicle in reckless disregard for the safety of persons or property.
Dim your headlights
When you are within 500 feet of an approaching vehicle so as not to blind the driver or when you are following closely (within 200 feet) behind another vehicle.
Distracted Driving
Requires drivers to exercise due care in operating a motor vehicle and prohibits any action that distracts the driver from the safe operation of such vehicle.
Hands Free Georgia Law (HB 673)
Requires that drivers are not allowed to hold or support a phone for any reason.
Warning Signs
Alerts you to conditions that are immediately ahead. There may be road hazards, changes in traffic direction, or some other potentially hazardous situation that requires action on your part.
Regulatory Signs
Tell drivers what they may or may not do. Drivers, including bicyclists, must obey them in the same manner as traffic laws.

Prior to entering vehicle check tire pressure
Check the tire pressure using a tire pressure gauge and add air or let air out, also measure tread depth.
Hydroplaning
Occurs when there is standing water on a roadway. At speeds up to and over 35 mph, your tires may start to lose contact with the road and ride over the water like water skis.
Skidding
A car skids when its tires lose their grip on the road surface. When a car skids, both the power that the engine sends to the wheels and the braking ability of the wheels are lost.
Entering the Car Safety
Develop a routine for entering the car safely and preparing for your trip.
High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes
Are travel lanes that are restricted to vehicles with more than one occupant, buses, motorcycles, and vehicles with Alternative Fuel Vehicle license plates.

To remove irresponsible drivers from Georgia highways and to protect insured motorists from uninsured motorists.
If You Are Involved In A Crash
Stop immediately in a safe place, Notify the nearest law enforcement agency immediately if anyone is injured or killed, or if property damage exceeds $500.00. Provide reasonable assistance to any person injured.
