Noah

Tenth Antediluvian patriarch that build an ark to save his family and two of each kind of beast. The flood lasted for 40 days and nights

Rebekah

Wife of Isaac and mother of Jacob and Esau, she would later deceive Isaac and trick him into giving Jacob his blessing rather than Esau, the first born.

Cain

Son of Adam and Eve (first born), worked as crop farmer. Killed his brother, Abel, (first murder) out of envy and was marked for life.

Bethel

Border city between Benjamin and Ephraim, place where Abram stayed and built an altar on his way to Egypt.

Seth

Third son of Adam and Eve, born after murder of Abel.

Leah

The mother of Jacob's six sons and one daughter, sister to Rachel

Eden

Biblical "garden of God", first home of Adam and Eve who were allowed to eat all fruit but the ones from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Joseph

Son of Jacob and Rachel, eleventh son of Jacob. His brothers sold him to merchants travelling to Egypt, but he became vizier. Known to interpret dreams

Ishmael

Abraham's first son born through Hagar rather than Sarah, his wife. He was cast out with his mother after the birth of Isaac.

Sarai/Sarah

Wife and half-sister of Abraham, mother of Isaac

Jacob

Son of Isaac and Rebekah, younger twin of Esau. Later given the name Israel. Had twelve sons that became founders of the Tribes of Israel.

Methuselah

Son of Enoch, grandfather of Noah. Reported to have lived 969 years, the longest any many has lived.

Eve

First woman created from the rib of Adam, wife of Adam. Succumbs to serpent's temptation and eats the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Ararat

Dormant volcano in eastern Turkey, the place where Noah's Ark landed after the great flood.

Adam

First man created by God and left in the Garden of Eden. After eating the forbidden fruit with Eve, God removes them from Eden

circumcision

At the age of 99, God appeared before Abram and told him that he would be renamed Abraham and all of the male followers and himself must be circumcised.

Canaan

Son of Ham, grandson of Noah. Father of the Canaanites and recipient of the Curse of Ham. Ancestor the the tribes who occupied Canaan, modern-day Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria

Isaac

Son of Abraham and Sarah, the father of Jacob and Esau. Abraham was going to sacrifice Isaac by the will of God to test his loyalty, but an angel saved Isaac

Abel

The brother of Cain and son of Adam and Eve. Worked as a shepherd. Killed by his brother because God favored his sacrifices

Esau

Older son of Isaac, described to be very red haired and was a hunter. His birthright was accidentally given to his brother Jacob.

God

All powerful creator of everything

Rachel

The second wife of Jacob after her sister, Leah. She mothers two sons of Jacob, Joseph and Benjamin.

Babel

Tower of Babel, myth that explained the origin of different languages. Originally, the people of one language aimed to build a tower that reached heaven, but God changed their languages to set back their progress and send them around the world.

7th Day

After 6 days of working, God finished his work and rested on the 7th day, thus becoming the Sunday in which it became a day of rest and honoring God

Abram/Abraham

Called by God to settle in the land once owned by the Canaan. Son of Terah, tenth descendant of Noah. Nearly sacrificed his son, Isaac, to God in proof of his loyalty. First Old Testament Patriarch

Lot

Nephew of Abraham, traveled with uncle, flight from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah

Serpent

Snake-like creature that represented the devil. Taunted Even into eating the forbidden fruit

Benjamin

Last born of Jacob's 12 children, remained with Jacob when his brother plotted against Joseph

Lot's Wife

Fleeing the city of Sodom, she looked back at turned into a pillar of salt.

Tree of Knowledge of good and evil

One of two trees in the Garden of Eden (tree of life). Had forbidden fruit, but Eve fell to temptation and both were sent out by God
