Nursing Process (ADPIE)
Assessment, Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation - the steps in the nursing process.
SMART goals
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound goals set during the Planning phase.
Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
A theory in psychology consisting of a five-tier model of human needs, often depicted as hierarchical levels within a pyramid.
Physiological Needs
Basic needs for survival such as oxygen, food, water, and temperature regulation.
Benner's Novice to Expert Model
A model outlining the progression of a nurse's skills and knowledge from Novice to Expert.
Novice Nurse
A nursing student or a nurse with no experience.
Instrumental, Communicative, and Research
Key roles involved in the development of nursing competencies.
Ethical Principles in Nursing
Key ethical guidelines including Autonomy, Beneficence, Justice, and Nonmaleficence.
Autonomy
The principle of respecting patients' decisions.
Beneficence
The ethical principle of doing good.
Justice
The principle of fair treatment for all patients.
Nonmaleficence
The ethical principle of doing no harm.
Roles of a Nurse
Includes Care Provider, Educator, Advocate, Leader, Change Agent, Manager, Researcher, and Collaborator.
Care Provider
A nurse responsible for delivering critical skills and patient care.
Advocate
A nurse who explains information to patients and supports their decision-making.
Leader
A nurse who provides direction to others in healthcare.
Change Agent
A nurse who finds ways to improve patient care and organizational practices.
Collaborator
A nurse who works alongside other healthcare professionals.
