frontal bone and maxilla, tissue around the eye

mandible and maxilla, skin and muscle around mouth

Buccinator (Risorius)

located near the sides of the mouth

Zygomaticus

Major and Minor

Minor is on top, major is underneath

zygomatic bones, minor is closer to nose and higher

Masseter (in green)

temporal bone, works the mandible, “chewing muscle”

Sternocleidomastoid

sternum and clavicle, works the mastoid process, laterally rotates the neck

Depressor Anguli Oris

bottom of the mouth, “depressed” to remember that it brings your mouth down

Serratus Anterior

under ur armpits, higher than external obliques

External Obliques

8th ribs, works the pelvis, flex and rotate vertebral column

Rectus Abdominis

pelvis, works the sternum and ribs 5-7

Pectoralis minor

peel back pectoralis major and that’s where minor is

Pectoralis Major

sternum, clavicle, and ribs 1-6, works the proximal humerus, adduct and flex the humerus

Deltoid 

scapula and clavicle, works the humerus, abducts the humerus

Trapezius

occipital bone, all cervical and thoracic vertebrae, works the scapula and clavicle, raise retract and rotate scapula

Latissimus Dorsi

broad flat muscle occupying the lower posterior thorax, moves the upper extremities

Biceps Brachii

scapula, works the proximal radius, flexes elbow and supinate forearm

Brachioradialis

humerus, works the radius, flex the arm at the elbow

Palmaris longus

anterior forearm, from the epicondyle of the humerus, helps flex and move the wrist

Triceps Brachii

scapula and humerus, works the ulna, extends elbow

Flexors

found on the anterior side of the forearm

FCR- humerus, works metacarpals 2-3, flexes wrists and abducts the hand

FCU- humerus and ulna, works carpals and 5th metacarpal, flexes wrists and abducts the hand

Extensor Carpi Radialis Brevis

extend and abduct the hand at the wrist joint, radius

Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus

produce wrist extension and abduction, radius

Extensor Carpi Ulnaris

extends the hand at the wrist joint, ulna

Gluteus Maximus

sacrum and pelvis, works the proximal femur, extends the hip

Adductor brevis

Adductor longus

brevis- pull the thigh medially

longus- adduct the thigh at the hip joint

Gracilis

inner thigh, “WHAT IS GRAC(e) DOING THERE??” to help remember tehe, hip adduction, knee flexion, knee internal rotation

Rectus Femoris

middle of the femur, extends the hip and flexes the knee

Vastus Lateralis

outside of the thigh, lateral, movement in hip and knee

Vastus Medialis

medial thigh, knee and hip movement

Sartorius

longest muscle in the body, hip and knee joints, medial thigh and goes up towards pelvis

Biceps Femoris

posterior thigh, part of the hamstrings

Tibialis Anterior

tibia, works tibia and fibula, flex knee and extend hip

Fibularis Longus

fibia, located laterally

Gastrocnemius

distal femur, works the calcaneus, plantar flex the foot and flex the knee

Soleus

posterior, plantar flexion, points the foot down

Calcaneal (Achilles) Tendon

thickest tendon, heel, attaches the calf to the heel
