After finding out the truth about his fate of killing his father and sleeping with his mother, Oedipus decides to blind himself. He was metaphorically blind to this fate before, due to him being guilty of hubris. His hubris caused him to be greedy and rude to others, as well as scorn the blind prophet, and accuse Creon of trying to bring him down. All of these factors built of and led Oedipus blinding himself.
