Nature vs. Nurture

genetics (controls eye/hair color, body shape, sex, temperament)

nurture: everything else (is influenced by our genetics)

epigenetics

rat licking study: babies who are licked a lot become high licking parents, switching the babies they found the same thing

it physically changed the babies genetics - helps us see the impact nature has on nurture

twin studies

a common method of investigating whether nature or nurture affects behavior

if identical siblings are raised apart, then any similarities they have are based on their environment and if fraternal twins are raised together then any similarities are based on nurture

Heritability

the ability of a trait to be passed down from one generation to the next

are fraternal twins or identical twins used in twin studies

both are
