Bipolar Neuron
A neuron with two processes, one axon and one dendrite, found in special senses (rare).
Multipolar Neuron
A neuron with three or more processes, typically one axon and multiple dendrites; it is the most common and major neuron type in the CNS.
Unipolar Neuron
A neuron with a single T-like process, also known as pseudounipolar, with one peripheral (distal) process and one central (proximal) process that enters the CNS.
Inhibitory Neurotransmitter
A neurotransmitter that causes a decrease in the likelihood of the firing of the associated neuron.
Sensory Receptors
Specialized structures that detect sensory stimuli and relay that information to the nervous system.
