Hypothalamus
releases hormones to help with reproduction, thyroid regulation, growth, emotions, water levels in the body, and our response to stress
pineal gland
regulates sleep/wake cycles and secretes the hormone melatonin
Pituitary gland
releases several hormones that relate to growth, metabolism, reproduction, stress or trauma response, lactation, water, balance, and childbirth
Thyroid gland
Plays a major role in growth and development of the human body and metabolism
Thymus
The thymus makes white blood cells up until puberty, when all the T-cells you need have been made. It also releases hormones that control the pituitary gland
Adrenal gland
Releases hormones that help regulate the body's response to stress as well as metabolism, blood pressure, and the immune system
Pancreas
Creates enzymes to break down sugars, fats, and starches as well as hormones that regulate blood sugar, appetite, stomach acid, and when to empty your stomach
Ovary
Produce the hormones estrogen and progesterone which regulate reproduction and menstration
Testes
Produces sperm as well as testosterone which helps with growth of the male body including developing muscles, deepening the voices, and growing body hair
Estrogen
Puberty, pregnancy, menstruation, menopause, sperm development, and bone health. Found in testes, ovaries, adrenal glands, and fat cells. Overtime levels fluctuate, but is necessary for pregnancy.
Progesterone
Pregnancy, menstruation, and testosterone production. Found in testes, ovaries, and adrenal glands. Overtime prepares uterus for surgery
Testosterone
Builds muscle mass and bone, development of reproductive tissue, and body hair growth. Found in testes and ovaries. Overtime remains high until your 40's
Disruptor
substances that interfere or mimic with hormones by and the endocrine system. These hormone-like chemicals can be human-made or naturally occurring. They can be found in everyday products like packaging, toys, and cosmetics, as well as food, water, and the environment
