Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
When, where and why was the SDGs created
The SDGs were created during the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro in 2012.
The main goal was to develop a set of universal targets that address the urgent environmental, political, and economic issues our world is facing.
MDGs
The SDGs took the place of the MDGs, the MDGs began in 2000 and focused on poverty. Their main goal was to reduce extreme poverty and hunger, and prevent diseases, they also wanted all children to have access to primary education.

The pulled over a billion people out of poverty.
The number of children not in school has decreased by more than half since 1990.
HIV/AIDS infections have dropped by nearly 40 percent since 2000.

An example is that the downtown area is raised on a 7-meter podium, this captures the desert winds and makes it feel cooler.
Oman has reached 14 goals from the 17 of the SDG.
Qatar, which is country located in the Middle East has made progress in the SDGs goals. Like on the education which is goal 4.
