When, where and why was the SDGs created

The SDGs were created during the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro in 2012.

The main goal was to develop a set of universal targets that address the urgent environmental, political, and economic issues our world is facing.

MDGs

The SDGs took the place of the MDGs, the MDGs began in 2000 and focused on poverty. Their main goal was to reduce extreme poverty and hunger, and prevent diseases, they also wanted all children to have access to primary education.
