Electric Charge
A property of protons and electrons; protons carry a positive charge, and electrons carry a negative charge.
Charge Elementaire
The charge carried by an electron or a proton, equal to approximately 1.6 imes 10^{-19} coulombs.
Current Electric
The ordered movement of negative charges carried by electrons.
Conventionnel Sense of Current
By convention, the direction of current is described as the path a positive particle would take through the circuit.
Intensity of Current
The amount of charge that flows through a point in a circuit per second, measured in amperes (A).
Voltmeter
An instrument used to measure the potential difference (voltage) between two points in an electrical circuit.
Resistance Electric
The ability of a material to oppose the flow of electric current, measured in ohms (Ω).
Ohm's Law
States that in an electrical circuit, the potential difference (voltage) is directly proportional to the current for a given resistance.
Series Circuit
A circuit where components are connected one after another, providing a single path for current.
Parallel Circuit
A circuit where components are connected across common points or junctions, providing multiple paths for current.
Ampere Meter
An instrument used to measure the intensity of electric current in a circuit.
